Everyone Are Welcome to Join as the Fourth Haim Sisters Bandmate.

"Do you know when you'll be interviewing Haim?" a message pops up. "I wanted to ask if I can be their newest bandmate."

There's just one problem: I also longs to be Haim's additional sibling. And we're far from alone. Multiple celebrated fans have openly begged for the honor.

One thing is obvious an irresistible appeal is going on. The siblings Este, Danielle and Alana launched their path doing sets at neighborhood delis with their parents. Presently, they stand as repeated Grammy hopefuls.

Like all the most iconic bands, they're a inseparable unit. Their videos repeatedly show them marching in harmony down the avenues of Los Angeles. During performances, they perform with such boundless exuberance you inevitably think, "I wish to be involved in that, too."

"The numerous instances on tour that young girls approached us and said, 'Seeing you perform, I bought a guitar'," says Alana, the youngest of the sisters. "That is the ultimate compliment. That's an award in itself. We've done our job if we can inspire young girls to form a group."

"So everyone is invited to be the next part of the family."

Award Recognition

The trio are speaking from their homes, where they're taking a pause after an major tour in promoting their fourth album, I Quit.

They're right now reeling from the news it's been shortlisted for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards – with Haim the very first all-woman band ever in the running for the prize.

"I follow the announcements every year, so it almost feels like The Truman Show when your name is read out," explains Alana. "I needed to phone my sisters to say, 'Did I hear this right or am I imagining things'?"

The significance of the honor resonates with the trio.

"We really set out to make a rock album this time, so it's a huge achievement," says Alana. "But we're just appreciative for the women that paved the way."

Personal Turmoil and Humour

The project emerged from a time of emotional upheaval. All three sisters ended up single, and the music inhabits that strange in-between place where you're glad to be free, but not entirely ready to start anew.

The themes detail departures and partings. The sisters want love, but not the relationships they've got. You can hear them determining in real time who they want to be.

"I love way of putting it, yes," responds Danielle. "I Quit is like a personal statement. You have to actively work on ignoring the outside opinions and saying, 'I couldn't care less what people think'."

Refinement of Sound

That recent confidence required a fresh approach – more organic and direct than anything the band had done before.

For Danielle, who worked on producing the album, that started with the drum sound.

"The drum sound is such a detailed thing, and I focus so intensely about it," she states.

"'Journey of the drum sound' will be the name of our book," jokes Alana. "Our motto is, our albums won't commence until we find the ideal drum sound."

Anecdotes and Shared Laughter

The trio's openness inspired the album's promotional campaign, where the sisters shared some of their personal misadventures.

A former partner left Este over a medical consideration. Alana told a story of travelling to spend New Year's Eve with someone, only to receive a casual gesture at midnight.

"Experiencing these setbacks, you just feel like there's no hope," says Alana. "So to be able to laugh at those stories and have them tell you more outrageous stories, it's therapeutic."

A Confident Path

You can clearly sense a change in the band. Today, Haim are more certain of their position in the industry.

They're festival headliners, with chart-topping albums and an international audience.

Yet Haim will always be their number one focus.

"We have been playing music since I was a young child," shares Alana. "There is nothing else that we were meant to do. And I'm really thankful we've made it and we're still going strong."
